Bishop Wade Starling McCrae is the son of the late Sally Walker and Tom McCrae. As a native of Tifton Georgia, he was reared through the Tift County public school system. Spiritually, Bishop was a son of the Churches of God In Christ, accepting Jesus under the tutelage of Dr. Samuel McIntyre in the Strickland Temple C.O.G.I.C. Having initially enrolled in the Marketing and Management program at Valdosta Area Technical School, he later attended DeVry Institute in Atlanta GA. Bishop McCrae has received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts degree in Religion from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, IN. Called to a wonderful congregation in the city of Valdosta, Georgia in 1986, Bishop McCrae has had the distinct honor of leading Union Cathedral for the past 35 years.
Privileged to attend the Joint College of Pentecostal Bishops for three years (2005-2007), Bishop McCrae was elevated to the Episcopal office of Bishop in the Lord’s Church by the Joint College of Pentecostal Bishops on October 7, 2006. Bishop McCrae is the establishmentarian and primate of the Rhema Word Covenant Fellowship of Pastors and Churches. The fellowship is a connection of pastors, ministries, and like-minded leaders who have willingly submitted to Bishop as their spiritual covering and mentor. Currently, the fellowship encompasses 5 Bishops, 4 Independent Reformations, 5 Overseers, 17 Pastors, and 16 Churches in 11 cities across the Central and South GA region. Bishop McCrae holds fast to the belief that “Position and Pride are nothing in the absence of the Power of the Word of God.” Gifted in the area of expository preaching, Bishop McCrae finds his greatest joy in the exegesis, contextualization, and extrapolation of the hidden truths of God’s Word. As a leader, Bishop McCrae acknowledges that “Our foundation is Christ and we are to serve His church in truth and righteousness.” Relying on the faith of the Apostles and Prophets, Bishop leads the segment of the 21st century church to which God has called him.
Bishop McCrae is married to the beautiful and brilliant Dr. LaConya J. McCrae, also a native of Tifton, GA. He is the father of four: Brandon (Erica), Brittany (Tessler), Tyler, and Immanuel. He is also the grandfather of four: Benjamin Isaac, Tessler Nicholas, Ethan Blake, Thor Nikoli and Timothy Braxton Wade, all of whom refer to him as “Granddaddy Bishop. Of this lineage and inheritance, he is very proud.
